VI Peels

A VI Peel is a medium-depth chemical peel suitable for all skin types and tones. Using safe chemical solutions, it exfoliates the skin’s surface to promote cell renewal and collagen production, improving the skin’s health and overall appearance. VI Peels are customizable treatments that rejuvenate and revitalize the skin.

A VI Peel uses unique acid formulas to exfoliate at a cellular level, reducing fine lines, shrinking pores, and encouraging collagen production. Patients typically see improvements in tone and texture within a week. VI Peels are effective for treating the face, neck, chest, arms, back, and hands.

With unique customizable formulations, VI Peels are a quick and painless treatment designed to improve your appearance by addressing:

  • Age spots and freckles

  • Not be pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have no active skin infections
  • Have a positive outlook and realistic goals for the procedure

Preparing for Your Peel

Dr. Sanniec and his team will provide thorough instructions on preparing for your treatment. While we will customize a peel plan specifically for you, here is some general information.

  • Stay well-hydrated before and after your procedure. Avoid alcohol and caffeine, which can contribute to dehydration, bleeding, or bruising.
  • Smoking harms every aspect of your health and will detract from your results. Please do not smoke or use nicotine products for at least 48 hours before and after your peel.
  • Follow your pre-procedure protocol, as determined during your consultation. For example, avoid blood-thinning medications, anti-inflammatory drugs, or herbal supplements that may increase bleeding for three to six days.

What to Expect on the Day of Your Glendale Peel Treatment

Come to your appointment with clean, moisturized, makeup-free skin. You’ll meet with our aesthetic specialists to review the details of your chemical or laser peel and answer last-minute questions.

VI Peel

VI Peels unfold in two stages. First, the peel targets the skin’s surface and penetrates the dermis. Your provider will leave the solution on your skin for several minutes before neutralizing it. Patients usually feel a mild tingling or warming sensation, but the process is generally well-tolerated.

Once the solution dries on your skin, you can leave and resume your usual day. For best results, wait at least four hours before washing your skin with a mild cleanser and using the post-peel towelettes and cream designed to speed cell turnover.

VI Peels typically take 30 to 45 minutes.

Carbon Peel

Typically, carbon peel laser procedures are quick. Our specialists will meticulously apply carbon particles to the skin. Then, they will guide the laser handpiece over the treatment area to deliver laser energy that breaks down the carbon. The treatment removes damaged skin and heats the deeper layers, stimulating collagen and elastin production.

Depending on the treatment area, your carbon peel may take 20 to 60 minutes.

Chemical or Laser Peel Recovery and Aftercare

VI Peel

After your VI Peel, you will receive a take-home post-treatment kit, plus detailed instructions on how to use it. Your skin may begin peeling in two to three days, and you can expect increased sensitivity during this time. Keep the treated area moisturized.

VI Peels require no downtime – you can resume most normal activities immediately. Avoid strenuous exercise or activities that cause sweating for 72 hours. Wear sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher or protective clothing if sun exposure is unavoidable.

Carbon Peel

There is no downtime necessary after a carbon peel treatment. Redness, slight bruising, or swelling will gradually subside over the next few hours to days.

Follow your provider’s instructions after your carbon laser peel treatment to ensure optimal results, including avoiding excessive heat, wearing sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, and using appropriate skin care products. They may recommend keeping your skin moisturized, taking Tylenol, or applying cold compresses for discomfort.

Most patients can resume their typical daily activities, including light exercise, in a day or two.

How Soon Will I See My Arizona Peel Results?

VI Peel

Most patients begin peeling by the second or third day after their VI Peel, and that process lasts about a week. Be diligent about using moisturizer and expect some sensitivity for a few days. As your skin heals, you’ll see fresh, new cell turnover.

Some patients achieve significant results following one VI Peel; however, some patients may need multiple peels scheduled every four to six weeks to achieve their goals. Our aesthetic experts will recommend a custom regimen and monitor your progress.

Follow your aftercare instructions for optimal results, including using sun protection and returning for follow-up appointments.

Carbon Peel

Results from a carbon peel vary depending on your skin’s initial condition and the extent of the peel. Most patients experience a visible improvement in two to six months; however, you may need multiple sessions to achieve the best outcome.

You can prolong your carbon peel results for up to three years by using sun protection and returning for maintenance appointments.
